Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Yas Marina Circuit - Result

It is the dream of all the top drivers to win the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and Lewis Hamilton fulfilled that dream. Reigning World Champion Sebastian Vettel who was crowned last year world champion in the very same race, is not able to complete the race. Abu Dhabi marks first retirement for Vettel this season as he fail to win the race 3rd time since its inception in 2009.

Sebastian Vettel unexpectedly and by himself got the rear puncture on the 2nd corner of the very first lap. He soon dropped to the 24th position before retiring in pits due to suspension and diffuser damage to the car.

Lewis Hamilton marks 17th win of his career and 3rd of the season equaling teammate Button's three win from the season. It was a ferocious battle between Hamilton and Alonso. Later kept himself at the toes of Hamilton for almost the entire race distance only to lost in the end and completes the race 8sec behind Hamilton.

Lewis Hamilton dedicated this win to his Mom 'Carmen' as a b'day present.

Jenson Button on the other hand hold onto the third position before being threatened by Massa first when he lost his KERS and then Webber who pitted in the very last lap for completing the 2nd type of tyres mandatory in each race and forced to give away the third position to Button.

Mark Webber the sole surviving Red Bull finished fourth ahead of yet again struggling Felipe Massa. Mark Webber set a strings of fastest lap in the end to ensure 2011 DHL Fastest Lap Award to his name. Mark Webber captured 6th fastest lap this season. Massa drove brilliantly for the first half but later spun to ruin his 4th position chances.

Mercedes Nico Rosberg and Michael Schuamcher finished the race in 6th and 7th. However, Nico fight till the end while Michael was struggling for pace. Nico Rosberg at moment was running in the third position before being dropped to 6th after taking the 2nd and final pitstop.

Schumacher finished 23secs behind his teammate just a second ahead of Sahara Force India Adrian Sutil.

Sahara Force India put a brave fight and brilliant performance to secure 6 championship points in order to make sure they hold onto the 6th position in the constructors championship that is almost looking certain with only 1race left in the season. Even Adrian Sutil has equaled Nick Heidfeld at 10th position in the drivers championship. One good run in the last race can ensure him 9th finish in the drivers standing ahead of both Vitaly Petrov and Nick Heidfeld. Paul Di Resta completed the race on an excellent 1stop strategy.

A strong battle and dangerous overtaking maneuvers were seen during the race between Button and Webber, Massa and Webber, Di Resta and Buemi, Alguersuari and Maldonado.

The double DRS Zone in Abu Dhabi is the perfect combination of intelligence and driver excellence. First zone allow driver behind to overtake, but soon after 2nd DRS Zone give a clear opportunity to the driver fallen behind to overtake again. As seen during the complete race during many occasions. Only if driver would have overtaken at 2nd zone, it would have given them a lap window. But still designed with equal intelligence, 2nd zone is very small to overtake. So, again it left on pure driving skills and some excellent driving maneuvers to pass the car in front.

Kamui Kobayashi is the last point scorer in the race came only 2sec behind Paul Di Resta. He was followed by his teammate Sergio Perez.

Williams put up a brave fight after starting from the last grid with Barrichello with his experience drove to excellence and bring Williams at 12th position while Maldonado only after facing a drive through penalty for ignoring blue flag finished 14th. Lot of drivers have ignored blue flags during the race that includes Maldonado for two times, Alguersuari and Senna. Senna also served a drive through penalty for ignoring the blue flags. Maldonado and Alguersuari blocking Massa and Webber while they were busy solving their own battle. Alguersurai has been slammed drive through penalty for the action. As it was after the race, so 20sec were added to his time and Maldonado who had already served drive through was given stop and go for again ignoring the blue flags. 30sec were added to his time. Although, there is no change in the final table due to the addition also.

Vitaly Petrov finished between the two Williams as Renault also struggle for pace and stability Bruno Senna finsihed 16th.

Jaime Alguersuari only finisher for Toro Rosso for 15th. Lotus again putting an excellent performance finished ahead of Virgin and HRT sole survivors Timo Glock and Vitantonio Liuzzi.

Among the non-finisher, Daniel Ricciardo stops just before the end of the race. Buemi parks in the garage for gear box problem. D'Ambrosio also confirms retirement early and first of all was World Champion Sebastian Vettel due to rear puncture, suspension and diffuser.
