F1 Chequered Flag Ball

The Sky Sports presenter and British TV personality Kirsty Gallacher has been confirmed as the host for this year’s and the third annual Chequered Flag Ball in Abu Dhabi. Gallacher—daughter of former European Ryder Cup captain Bernhard Gallacher—will entertain guests at the red-carpet F1 weekend event in Abu Dhabi that would take place at the brand new St Regis Saadiyat Island Resort on November 11. The Ball is a star-studded red carpet celebration that provides a glamorous start to the Abu Dhabi Formula One weekend by bringing together celebrities from sports, show business and music. Kirsty will host the evening along with local television and radio personality Tom Urquart. “I love the F1 and Yas Marina is a great track in a city we hear more and more about,” she said in a statement released by the event organizers. British soul singer Mica Paris and former F1 team owner Eddie Jordan’s band Eddie and The Robbers have also been confirmed as headline acts for the event.

Britney to make a pitstop at Abu Dhabi?

Meanwhile, in keeping up with their penchant for razzle-dazzle, the organizers of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix are not leaving a single stone to metamorphose a run-of-the-mill Formula 1 event into a Carnival like extravaganza. Another celebrity who could scintillate the grand event with her stellar presence is Britney Spears. Now that she is back on top of the music world with Femme Fatale, she may be heading overseas to open the Abu Dhabi Formula 1 Grand Prix on November 11. Though Spears is yet to sign the event officially, speculations are rife that she may add a special concert to her Femme Fatale tour and make a pit stop at Abu Dhabi to perform at the Grand Prix. However, the full list of performers will be released on September 26, which will either confirm whether Britney Spears will open the Abu Dhabi Formula 1 Grand Prix or if it’s all just wishful thinking.
